Tekoa started to limp to the point of not putting pressure on her front leg. She went to the vet and he diagnosed it as pano. She is on meds and is very restless. He did say she was in great condition her resting heartbeat was 55.

No excerise for at least 2wks if not longer he said. She looks so sad and I can't bear to see her in that much pain, and the whimpering when she gets up. Oh I just want to carry her.

Poor Tekoa. So many of our dogs go through pano. Did the vet say you could give her coated aspirin or something for the pain?

Sometimes I think we feel worse for our 4-legged babies than our 2-legged ones! I do hope Tekoa and you! are feeling better. At least know this is something that will pass, and not anything long term.

How's she doing? Did the vet give her any anti-inflamitory drugs? Apparently they would be safer and more effective than aspirin.

Prayers for Tekoa and her family.
God bless. dove

thanks for the prayers. Tekoa is excerising once a day just for short time. Usually I'm with her about 2hrs in the evening before this happened. Her vet said she is in great condition. I was really shock when she came down with it. Tekoa isn't that big. Tall yes,but not heavy. Tekoa gets 7c plus wet food a day and was weighing in at 72lbs. She has no parasites and vet said she just plain athletic her resting heart rate was 55. The vet told me too quit worrying about her weight and that I feed her plenty. He is glad she wasn't heavier due to the pano. She was always on the lighter side. I think she will be about 85lbs when matures.

Glad to hear she is on the mend. Smile

Did the vet give her anything?
Nero, actually is having a bout of pano at the moment, too. Not a really bad one.... but, he get's them from time to time, and I just give him a piece of the Rimadyl tablets left over from his first horrific attack of Pano. Then he's fine.

Nero is, 31 inches, at the shoulder, and a very lean 103 lbs.... but, he got pano. So I don't think it's, weight dependant. However, I'm sure extra weight on the bones would make it more painful. Frown

It's not -- they are just "growing pains" that happen as the bones grow -- we will keep all of our pano dogs in our prayers, that they pass through this phase quickly dove
