Hello - my father has osteosarcoma (a very RARE and FAST spreading bone/tissue cancer) and is in unbearable pain and starting hospice soon. Please pray for him that the new IV max. pain medicine helps to reduce the tremendous pain he is in. This is such a hard time (especially during the holidays) for my kids, 11 and 7 to see their grandpa go through this (they love their grandpa dearly). Thank you!

Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement! They are all very much appreciated! I am a firm believer that with God on my side he will handle matters better than me alone. I spoke to my dad after I posted this morning and he actually sounded excited and really WANTS to see our new pup. This has been the first thing he's been excited about in soooooo long. I told him I'd bring the pup over and take pics of him and the pup. Will keep you all posted. Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers. Time ahead will be tough, but with nice folks like you it makes it easier knowing you care. THANKS! Smile

Tami, I will send prayers of comfort and peace to your Dad and to your family. My father is also suffering from cancer (multiple myeloma) which is attacking his bone structure and I understand what you are dealing with.

I hope you don't mind, but I want to share this, as while it took some time, the doctors have been able to manage my father's pain by sending him to a pain specialist. It is called MAPS Pain Clinic. Oral meds just couldnt address my Dad's pain. After testing for a week, they inserted a pump into his hip area, that delivers the pain med directly to his spine. This help manage the dosage more easily, and also eliminated some of the side effects. If you are interested, their phone number is 1-800-775-7246. The device is called an Intrathecal Drug Delivery System, manufactured by Medtronic. When we were able to change to that option, it really made a difference to his quality of life. While I didn't see that they had any offices outside of Minnesota, they are members of several affiliations and may be able to recommend someone in your area.

Here is their website: http://www.painphysicians.com

Take care, and God Bless,

I haven't posted for awhile on here mainly because things have been touch and go with my dad. He is back in the hospital.

Shilo has visited my dad many times at his bedside at the VA Hospital in the Palliative Unit and always put a smile on my dad's face and seemed (for at least a little while) when he'd stroke her fur bo easy his pain a little bit.

My dad started to cough up bright red blood w/mucus and today he is going in for a scope (camera) so they can try and detect where the bleeding is coming from.

They stopped the radiation to his lungs because of this situation.

There is no way to describe how terrible it is so see a human being (especially a family member) to go through so much pain and agony caused by cancer.

Please continue to pray for my dad and ask God to take him to heaven soon without much more of a excrutiating painful lingering existence. The doctors are doing their best...but my dad's pain is so bad that it makes me sick. And he is tired of all the sickness and knowing he will never get better. Why do some folks die peacefully and others (like my dad) have to go through this extremely terrible ordeal?

Thanks for listening to me and THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS!!!

Thank you for your kind words!

I just called (12:30pm) the VA and my dad isn't out of the operating room yet for the "Scope Camera". He went in at 11am and it was only a 20 minute procedure. I hope they meant the recovery room and not operating room. I'm going to recall them in 1 hour and find out exactly where he is at and how everything went.

Thank you for praying -- it is very much needed. Shilo is not allowed to go to the VA till she retests worm-free. Dad is going to be disappointed in not seeing her for that long. Frown

FYI... my dad made it through the Scope and is resting in his hospital room. It revealed he is bleeding from his right lung. The doctors are meeting to discuss the next step(s).
Thank you for the continued prayers. I know my dad made it through his proceed due to all of your prayers. Thank you so much. Tami
